Rebekah Pierre is a care-experienced author, award-winning campaigner, and consultant/trainer specialising in children’s social care. A registered social worker with 16 years of experience supporting children and families both in the UK and overseas, she possesses a unique duality of lived and professional experience - both of which she draws on to provide training & consultancy which makes meaningful, lasting impact.
Her acclaimed book, Free Loaves on Fridays: The Care System as Told by People Who Actually Get It, is the largest known anthology of care-experienced voices, amplifying the stories of 100 children and adults. An award-winning writer and speaker, her work has been featured in The Guardian, BBC Radio 4, ITV News, academic journals, and numerous books. Rebekah has delivered keynotes, bespoke training, and consultancy for a wide range of organisations including NHS, BASW, NAIRO, ADCS, Community Care, and CAFCASS, the European Conference on Child and Family Social Work, and many more. She is currently serving as Deputy Director of Article 39, a charity that defends the rights of children in institutional settings, Here, she combines strategic leadership with practice and policy advocacy, working with and for young people from diverse backgrounds. She is also a trustee of The Together Trust and a board member of John Lewis’ ‘Building Happier Futures’ initiative.
